Institutional Research collects, analyzes, warehouses, and disseminates data about the University of Notre Dame. Along with ensuring that Notre Dame has uniform and consistent statistical information for official reporting, IR provides support for Institutional Research’s authoritative statistics make it the primary source for University employees who are responding to external requests and are preparing internal reports that utilize statistical information. The office provides all the official numbers for the University, gathering its information and analyzing its data using the definitions established as standard policy by the University's decision-makers.
In the past, most of the Office’s information has been limited to the University’s top officials, such as the Office of the Provost and the deans of the colleges. Now, however, much of the statistical information on the web site is available to any member of the Notre Dame community with a NetID. The goal behind this expanded access is to provide an authoritative source for data-supported decision-making on a broader level and to make the Office’s resources better known to the University community.
If you are unable to find the information you need on our website, please contact Brandy Rypma. IR is responsible for the secure storage and reporting of University-wide corporate data as well as consortial and core institutional survey data. Data that is readily available and accessible to a wide audience will be provided as quickly as possible. Requests for other data may require more time to prepare, may not be able to be produced by our office, or may have limited accessibility. In these cases, we will contact you to discuss whether we can provide the information requested, an estimated time frame, and how to seek appropriate approvals, as needed. Please consult Access to Statistical Information or Access to Survey Data for additional information.
